MELLEMRUM // 2025, Officinet, Cph // “Things grow, and we build fences” “TO THE WINDS, that rage...” // Mellemrum is a Danish term that refers not only to physical spaces but also to the undefined transitions between time, memory, sensation, and perception. It encompasses both the tangible—pauses, open spaces, voids—and the abstract, where shifts and transformations escape fixed form. Throughout her artistic practice, Janne Krogh Hansen has explored the present moment—seeking to understand it, capture it, and dwell within it. How memories emerge, how touch, surroundings, sounds, scents, and words shape our experiences—and how they always seem to slip away, yet leave traces in our subconscious. Her works examine these mellemrum as spaces of transformation—where material, body, space, and perception intersect, carrying imprints of past, present, and future. The jewelry becomes an inscription of touch and change, where the fleeting and the tangible merge. It is an ongoing study of the indefinable—a depiction of the composite, the ever-changing, and that which can only be grasped for a brief moment. Moments in motion, where presence and absence temporarily unite.

Exhibition at Officinet Explores Body, Memory, and Landscape
Officinet presents jewelry artist Janne Krogh Hansen’s solo exhibition, MELLEMRUM—a poetic reflection on memory, transformation, and the undefined spaces where past, present, and future are interwoven.
In this exhibition, Janne Krogh Hansen showcases a series of new works in which the perception of material movements and shifts takes center stage. Each object carries its own rhythm—a pulsating transition between dissolution and preservation, between forgetting and remembering. In the interplay between form, object, and references to reliefs, Janne Krogh Hansen explores the relationship between body, memory, and landscape, where the material bears the imprint of time.
An Archive of Traces, Change, Body, and Sensation
MELLEMRUM examines the fleeting—the elements that cannot be held onto yet leave behind traces. Through experimental jewelry, Janne Krogh Hansen weaves together the organic and the constructed. The works function as inscriptions of touch and the relentless movement of time. One example is the piece “TO THE BIRDS, who awaken us,”which moves between presence and absence. Here, Janne Krogh Hansen explores the material and immaterial nature of sound—the fragile connection between dream and wakefulness. As a poetic tribute to birdsong, the piece mirrors those moments when the world briefly opens up to a new sensibility.
Material Poetics and Tactile Thinking
With a background in jewelry art, Janne Krogh Hansen works at the intersection of intuition and experimentation. Materials such as metal, textiles, and engraving engage in dialogue, with visible traces of the creative process remaining. The works contain stories and layers of meaning, inviting interpretation and encouraging the wearer to engage in a personal practice of memory.
ARTIST TALK: A Conversation on Traces and Sensation
On Tuesday, April 22, at 6:00 PM, Janne Krogh Hansen will host a conversation at Officinet about her artistic practice, sources of inspiration, and the process behind the exhibition.
The event is free, but registration is required via mail@goldfingers.dk.

In relation to Janne Krogh Hansen’s exhibition MELLEMRUM, mellemrum refers not only to physical distances but also to the undefined transitions between time, memory, and perception. In Danish, mellemrum denotes both concrete gaps—pauses, spaces, or empty areas—and more abstract, sensory, or temporal transitions where something changes or escapes a fixed form. Her works explore these in-between spaces as sites of transformation—where material, body, and landscape intersect, carrying traces of past, present, and future. The jewelry pieces function as inscriptions of touch and change, merging the fleeting with the tangible.
